Click Here To Sort News By Subject Subject: IRS ANNOUNCES NEW BUSINESS MILEAGE RATE FOR 2009 Date: 12/5/2008 Article: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that the optional standard business mileage rate for use in deducting automobile expenses will be 55.0 cents per mile, effective January 1, 2009. This is a slight reduction from the 58.5 cents per mile rate that has been in effect since July 1, 2008. The IRS mileage rate is based on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs of operating an automobile conducted by an independent contractor.
